The Bandana Splits formed this year when Annie, Dawn & Lauren met in Brooklyn and started singing together. They recorded their debut album at Saltlands Studio with producer Sam Cohen (of the band Apollo Sunshine) at the helm. All songs were sung live with the girls around one mic and Mr. Sam playing all the instruments.
The girls' sound is reminiscent of the great Girl Groups of the 50's and 60's, inspired by The Ronettes, The Caravelles and The Andrews Sisters. This record is packed with sure-fire hits, 12 original songs and a few covers including an amazing version of "You Don't Have to be a Baby to Cry" made popular in 1963 by The Caravelles and an oh-so-sweet acapella rendition of a song that Lauren's mother learned on her honeymoon.

BAD REPUTATION, composer/singer/songwriter Pierre de Gaillande's latest musical venture, is a translation of the lyrics of iconic French anarchist poet/singer Georges Brassens into English. A Bad Reputation CD was released in June 2010 on Barbes Records. Pierre performs these songs with an all-star band at venues in New York and abroad to great acclaim. They are currently at work on a second installment.
Pierre has been featured on NPR's The World with Scott Simon, as well as French TV station TV5, and the project has been featured in countless publications and radio programs in France, Spain, and the US, including a rave review by legendary music journalist Robert Christgau.

Helen Gillet
Helen Gillet - cello, vocals, EVI, electronics
World renowned improviser Helen Gillet, raised in Belgium, Singapore, Illinois and Wisconsin, has been a local New Orleans music scene stalwart since 2003. She has studied and performed in New Orleans with members of the Sun Ra Arkestra, Astral Project, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Mardi Gras Indian Orchestra, as well as with members of Jacob Fred's Jazz Odyssey, Chicago's AACM, Austrian pianist Georg Graewe's New Generation Orchestra to name a few. Her live solo performance includes an acoustic cello, looped electronics, french and english vocals, and a vintage E.V.I. trumpet (Electronic Valve Instrument).
Gillet threads her tri-continental childhood web into her performance, notably with the instrument she picked up at age 9: The Cello. Her training is rooted in western classical cello, North Indian Hindustani vocal ragas, free improvisation, New Orleans Jazz, funk, and country rock and French chansons. Gillet has two self-released albums out: Newton Circus (2009) by her french chansons band "Wazozo" and her latest instrumental album Running of the Bells (2011) by the "Helen Gillet trio" which received a four star review in the October 2011 issue of Downbeat magazine.

Ben Holmes - trumpetMichael Hearst, of Brooklyn book-rock collective One Ring Zero, is the man behind Songs For Ice Cream Trucks. As such, he has single-handedly reinvented the timeless sound we often hear on the street during the summer, some with a tinge of nostalgia, some sprinkled with noir and all leaving you wanting seconds.
